We want to test how the Ryzen processor performance and find the differences compared to the Intel SKU. We do not think this limitation makes sense, and you have to get a more expensive Intel configuration (starting at 1449 Euros) if you want more memory.
Only business customers can get additional models (R7 CPU, more RAM and/or more storage). While private customers can choose between plenty of configurations with Intel CPUs, Microsoft places the AMD model in the entry-level segment for 1129 Euros with the Ryzen 5, 8 GB RAM, and 256 GB SSD storage. Similar to the bigger Surface Laptop 4, Microsoft uses a special AMD chip, which uses a slightly modified iGPU. We have already reviewed the Surface Laptop 4 13.5 with the new Tiger Lake processor, and now we have a look at the new Ryzen model.
